Nursery Wallpaper - create something unique without being an artist.

Nursery wallpaper is the ideal solution for busy parents to be.This video shows what can be done with just paint, patience and a great deal of talent. But let's get real for a moment here. How many of us have the time or the talent to create something as detailed as this?
The alternative is to spend a large amount of money hiring someone to do it for us. Trouble is unless you have unlimited funds there are always better and more urgent things to spend that money on.
This is where using nursery wallpaper comes in.

Nursery Wallpaper - 3 ways to use it creatively

1. Buy a roll or two of old fashioned, small, busy patterned wallpaper. This needn't be babyish at all really just fun bright colours. Turn it over and on the back draw some big simple outlines of birds, cats, dogs, maybe even elephants or monkeys. They don't need to be perfect,(childish is good!)  and there's no need for fussy details. Just choose one animal, cut it out and use it to draw round. Now cut out several of these. Turn the animal over and draw some facing the other way too. So now you have 5 or 7 big animal shapes. You can stick these on to a plain painted wall  to create a bright modern look. If you are feeling artistic why not cut out a large tree shape as well ? No one else will have one just like yours!
2. Like the diamond motif from the video? Why not use  an old fashioned looking  roll of nursery wallpaper  to cut large squares from, turn them on edge to make diamonds and use them to make a frieze round the room? You can add your own finishing touches, even cut out paper ribbons to go in the centre of each diamond.
3. Maybe you'd like a more folk art look. You can use wallpaper with a small motif to cut simple clothing shapes from, maybe a t-shirt, a dress and some shorts. Draw them out just like the animals. String a washing line across your nursery wall and paste your washing underneath. You can glue brightly coloured plastic pegs in place to look like they are holding the clothes. A tree cut from brown patterned wall paper could be added at each end to 'hold' the washing line.
